I was inspired by my first clarinet teacher, who taught me for approximately fifteen years. She made my lessons enjoyable, and showed me that music is more than just sound, it is a language that need not be understood to be enjoyed.

Samantha Miller is a clarinettist and music tutor based in Colchester. A keen recorder student at 4 years-old, Samantha began clarinet lessons just three years later with Lynda Blackburn. At sixteen, she was selected as the principal clarinettist of Essex Youth Symphonic Wind Orchestra (EYSWO).
In 2009, Samantha graduated her music studies with honours at Colchester Institute, where she studied with British clarinettist Charles Hine, and composer Jeffery Wilson.
In high demand, Samantha has established herself as a clarinet tutor with students throughout the Essex and Suffolk counties, including teaching positions at Claydon High-school, Sudbury Ormiston Academy and Suffolk One College.
Clarinet tuition is offered for students of all ages and abilities, with the lessons catered towards their personal goals and aspirations. Lessons cover all aspects of clarinet study including instrument care, performance technique and ensemble playing.
Students learn a wide variety of repertoire written for the instrument ranging from popular/jazz music to classical/contemporary pieces. Exams are not a necessity for progress and learning to take place, but, can be taken at the student’s discretion.
Though theory is taught within the session practically with theoretical concepts applied to pieces, theory-only lessons are offered for Grades 1 to 5.
